LFG? I'm Fine Thanks

Just when I think that I might try to queue for a random dungeon I read horror stories of players being generally nasty in every which way in PuG's and I opt to wait for a guild run.

Say you're at a wedding and you're sitting with four or five people you've never met.  You wouldn't eat your meal in silence and then vote to remove one person so there would be an extra dessert.  You would make poliete conversation and then comment about what they were wearing AFTER they left the table.

(Okay, maybe the dessert analogy is a bad one, because I can get ruthless when it comes to sweets - but you guys get the point.)

I'm sure they are not all that bad, but no one ever says "best pug ever!".  The "best" pugs now seem to be ones where no one talks and you don't get kicked out before loot drops.  That still seems very ugly to me.

  1. It's true! You are ruthless about sweets! I've seen you take knives to children!

  2. I've got a good pug story for you. In fact, I've got two. Here's the first one.

And the 2nd is one that happened to me and Regis. One weekend, in trade chat, we see someone looking to start a fresh Heroic Naxx run. Regis being a brave pugger decided to go and I went for the hell of it. It was organized by a guild, mainly as an alt run but they had room for more. So off we went with strangers! It was well organized, had a good leader and loot rules were fair, open to everyone (not just the guildies)and explained to all. We cleared half of Naxx on Saturday and were invited to come back on Sunday to finish it up!

And when I failed miserably at kitting the zombie chow (my traps were bugging out and disappearing into the vents), they offered advice and tried to help, instead of calling me a noob.

It was awesome. So there are good groups out there... Sadly, good groups are more uneventful and don't make for good blogging news.

Of course, after all this typing - I don't blame you for your feelings towards pugs. I too would rather go with a guildie escort then a group of 4 strangers. Perhaps, that's why I've been dipping into BGs again - instead of pugging with strangers.
